Women India Award

Sreetama Das

My name is Sreetama Das, and I am a 19-year-old student from Guwahati, Assam, pursuing a career in healthcare while building my professional identity in the digital world. My journey reflects my commitment to education, continuous learning, resilience, and exploring opportunities beyond traditional career paths. I secured 89% in my Class 10 examinations under the SEBA board in 2023 and 89% in Class 12 under CBSE in the Science stream. After dedicating a year to NEET preparation with the dream of becoming a doctor, I faced a setback when I could not secure an MBBS seat. Instead of giving up, I adapted my plans and secured admission to the Radiology course at Tezpur Medical College, Assam. Beyond academics, I have earned over 100 certificates, medals, and awards through dance, quizzes, skill-development activities, and social work. One of my significant achievements was receiving recognition through PW EARNERS, along with a sponsored trip to Delhi to attend a Physics Wallah event. Alongside my studies, I have developed practical skills in artificial intelligence tools, prompt engineering, digital marketing, content creation, social media management, and video editing. I currently manage two paid internships, undertake freelance projects, and am working towards co-founding a digital agency with a friend. These experiences have helped me understand professional responsibilities, creativity, and the importance of continuously upgrading my skills. Through internships and freelancing, I have also worked towards financial independence and contributing to my family. However, my ambitions extend beyond personal success. I believe digital literacy can empower young people to explore new career opportunities. With this vision, I developed and submitted a proposal titled “Youth Digital Literacy and Micro-Freelancing Initiative in Government Colleges Across Assam,” aimed at helping students learn practical digital skills and explore the digital economy. I see myself as a young woman who is continuously learning, adapting, and building her own path across healthcare, technology, and entrepreneurship. I hope my journey encourages other young people to embrace setbacks, discover their potential, and create opportunities through knowledge, skills, and determination. Being considered for the Women India Inspiration Award would be an opportunity to share my experiences and celebrate the spirit of growth, initiative, and ambition.
