I walked out of an abusive marriage in my late twenties, carrying far more uncertainty than
answers. Like many women in difficult domestic situations, I had spent a long time negotiating
with myself — wondering if things would change, questioning whether leaving was the right thing
to do, and worrying about what life would look like on the other side.
